Then when the prayer is completed, disperse in the earth and seek the bounty of God (look for your livelihood), and remember Allah abundantly so that you may be granted success and prosperity. And when people see trade and amusement, they run off towards it and leave you standing. Say: what is with God is better than this amusement and trade, and Allah is the best provider of sustenance."

Translation: Ibn ʿArabī said: prayer at that time (that is, during the sermon) is forbidden (ḥarām) for three reasons. The first is the word of Allah Most High: "Idhā quriʾa al-Qurʾānu fa-stamiʿū lahū" (When the Qurʾān is recited, listen to it in silence). So how can one abandon an obligation which the Sharīʿa has made obligatory on everyone, and occupy oneself with a "non-obligatory" act (the prayer of greeting the mosque, taḥiyyat al-masjid)? Second, in a sound (ṣaḥīḥ) hadith the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When you say to the one beside you, 'Be quiet' (during the sermon), you have done an idle thing" (which voids the reward). So when enjoining the good and forbidding the evil (al-amr bi-l-maʿrūf wa-l-nahy ʿan al-munkar), which are important obligatory pillars, are forbidden during the sermon in the matter under discussion, then a voluntary act is all the more deserving of being declared forbidden. Third, if someone enters the mosque while the imām is in the prayer and has not yet made the prostration, then just as action and speech are forbidden in the prayer, they will also be forbidden at that time. It is established from some hadiths that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had not yet begun the sermon, and this hadith is "dāll" (proof) of that. [reading uncertain]
