Bab fi at-Tawassul bihi wan-Nida' iyyahu
Seeking Intercession Through the Prophet ﷺ and Calling Upon Him
Keep this in mind! Matters of Paradise are not established by weak hadiths from which meanings are derived. These are not capable of establishing a school of thought (madhhab). The madhhab is established on Mutawatir and categorical texts, not on "Akadheeb batila" (i.e. false and fabricated talks). اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ وَالصَّالِحِينَ.
يَا بَاب رَسُولِ خُدَاعَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ كَا وَسِيْلَهْ لَيْنِے ، تَوَسُّل كَرْنِے اَور آپ كُو پُكَارْنِے كِے بَيَان مِیں ہِے *(This chapter is regarding taking the Wasila of the Messenger of God ﷺ, doing Tawassul, and calling upon him)*
قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى : يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَابْتَغُوا إِلَيْهِ الْوَسِيلَةَ وَجَاهِدُوا فِي سَبِيلِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ - (آیت ٣٥ - المائدة)
Translation: Allah Almighty says: "O people of Iman! Fear Allah's wrath and seek the Wasila (means) towards Him and strive hard (exert effort) in His path, so that you may succeed."
وَقَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى : وَلَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ كِتَابٌ مِّنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ مُصَدِّقٌ لِّمَا مَعَهُمْ وَكَانُوا مِن قَبْلُ يَسْتَفْتِحُونَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُم مَّا عَرَفُوا كَفَرُوا بِهِ ۚ فَلَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ - (آیت ٨٩ - البقرة)
Translation: And Allah Almighty also says: And when the book of God (Quran) came to them, which confirmed the heavenly book (Torah) that was with them. However, they were habituated to praying for victory over the disbelievers through the Wasila of this one before. (Meaning they used to pray, O God, through the sake of the Prophet of the End of Times grant us victory) Then when the very religion came to them which they recognized well, they rejected it. So the curse of God is upon the disbelievers (in punishment for their disbelief).
عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ قَالَ إِنَّ رَجُلًا ضَرِيرَ الْبَصَرِ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَالَ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يُعَافِيَنِي قَالَ إِنْ شِئْتَ دَعَوْتُ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ صَبَرْتَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ قَالَ فَادْعُهُ قَالَ فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ فَيُحْسِنَ وُضُوءَهُ وَيَدْعُوَ بِهٰذِهِ الدُّعَاءِ "اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ وَأَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ بِنَبِيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيِّ الرَّحْمَةِ إِنِّي تَوَجَّهْتُ بِكَ إِلَى رَبِّي فِي حَاجَتِي هٰذِهِ لِتُقْضَى لِي اللَّهُمَّ شَفِّعْهُ فِيَّ " - (رواه الترمذي وصححه)
Lughat: رَجُلًا : a person. أَتَى : came. ضَرِيرُ : blind. الْبَصَرِ : sight. أَنْ يُعَافِيَنِي : that He grants me afiyah (comfort). إِنْ شِئْتَ : if you wish. إِنْ شِئْتَ : if it is your wish. أَسْأَلُكَ : I ask of you. شَفِّعْهُ : accept his intercession.

Translation: It is narrated from Hazrat Uthman bin Hunaif (RA). He said that a blind man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and submitted that you pray for me that Allah grants me afiyah and shifa (meaning my sight becomes well). You ﷺ said, "If you want I will pray, and if you want, bear it patiently, this is better for you." That person said, "Pray." The narrator says, you commanded him to perform wudu well, and then recite this prayer. "O God! I ask of You and turn towards You through the Wasila of Your Prophet Muhammad, the Prophet of Mercy, regarding this need of mine so that it may be fulfilled for me. O God! Accept my Prophet's intercession regarding me." (This hadith is in Tirmidhi and they have declared this hadith sahih and better)
عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُزَاحِمٍ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ كَانَ اسْتَعْمَلَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ ابْنَ الْجَرَّاحِ عَلَى حِمْصَ عُمَيْرَ بْنَ سَعْدِ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ فَأَقَامَ بِهَا سَنَةً فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ إِنَّا بَعَثْنَاكَ عَلَى عَمَلٍ مِنْ أَعْمَالِنَا فَمَا نَدْرِي أَوْفَيْتَ بِعَهْدِنَا أَمْ خُنْتَ فَإِذَا جَاءَكَ كِتَابِي هٰذَا فَانْظُرْ مَا اجْتَمَعَ عِنْدَكَ مِنَ الْفَيْءِ فَاحْمِلْهُ إِلَيْنَا - وَالسَّلَامُ - فَقَامَ عُمَيْرٌ حِينَ انْتَهَى إِلَيْهِ الْكِتَابُ فَحَمَلَ عُكَّازَتَهُ وَعُلِّقَ فِيهَا أَدَوَاتِهِ وَجِرَابَهُ فِيهِ طَعَامُهُ وَقَصْعَتَهُ فَوَضَعَهَا عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ حَتَّى دَخَلَ عَلَى عُمَرَ فَسَلَّمَ فَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامَ - (الحديث بطوله - وَفِيهِ فَقَامَ عُمَرُ وَعُمَيْرٌ إِلَى قَبْرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ عُمَيْرٌ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَابَكْرٍ مَاذَا لَقِيتُ بَعْدَكُمَا - اللَّهُمَّ الْجَفْنَى بِصَاحِبَيَّ لَمْ أُغَيِّرْ وَلَمْ أُبَدِّلْ - وَجَعَلَ يَبْكِي عُمَرُ وَعُمَيْرٌ طَوِيلًا - (مسند عمر - كنز ج ٧)
Lughat: اسْتَعْمَلَ : appointed as amil (governor). بَعَثْنَاكَ : we sent you, appointed. مَا نَدْرِي : we don't know, have no knowledge. أَوْفَيْتَ : you fulfilled it, completed it. أَمْ خُنْتَ : or you betrayed. الْفَيْءِ : public treasury. عُكَّازَةٌ : staff, stick. عُلِّقَ : hung. أَدَوَاتِ : belongings, tools. جِرَابٌ : bag. قَصْعَتَهُ : big bowl. عَاتِقِ : shoulder. مَاذَا لَقِيَتُ : what hardships I have faced. بَعْدَكُمَا : after both of you. الْجَفْنَى : unite me. صَاحِبَيَّ : my two friends. جَعَلَ يَبْكِي : started crying.
Translation: It is narrated from Muhammad bin Muzahim that Hazrat Umar bin al-Khattab (RA) appointed Umair bin Saad al-Ansari as the amil (governor) over Hims after the death of Hazrat Abu Ubaidah bin al-Jarrah, and he stayed there for a complete year.

Then Hazrat Umar bin al-Khattab wrote a letter to Hazrat Umair: "We appointed you as a governor over one of our provinces. We do not know whether you fulfilled this pledge or not. When my letter reaches you, see what you have gathered of the fai (public treasury), gather it and send it to us. Wassalam." (The narrator says) When the letter reached Hazrat Umair he stood up. He took his staff (stick), and whatever belongings he had and his provision bag (bag) containing food and a wooden bowl, he took all these out, and hung them on the staff, placed them on his shoulder, and walked to Hazrat Umar, and entered upon him. He gave salams to them and Hazrat Umar answered his salam. (This is a long hadith. It is also mentioned in it that) Then Hazrat Umar and Hazrat Umair both stood by the blessed grave of the Noble Prophet ﷺ. And Hazrat Umair said, "Peace be upon you O Messenger of Allah, peace be upon you O Abu Bakr. What hardships I faced after both of you. O God, unite me with my two friends. I have not altered anything nor substituted anything." Hazrat Umar and Hazrat Umair started crying for a long time after saying this. (This hadith is in Musnad Umar and the seventh volume of Kanz al-'Ummal. This is exactly recorded in the hadith)
إِذَا شَجَّاكُ شَيْطَانٌ أَوْ سُلْطَانٌ فَقُلْ يَا مَنْ يَكْفِي مِنْ كُلِّ أَحَدٍ يَا أَحَدُ مَنْ لَا أَحَدَ لَهُ يَا سَنَدَ مَنْ لَا سَنَدَ لَهُ ـ اِنْقَطَعَ الرَّجَاءُ إِلَّا مِنْكَ - نَجِّنِي مِمَّا أَنَا فِيهِ وَأَعِنِّي عَلَى مَا أَنَا عَلَيْهِ مِمَّا قَدْ نَزَلَ بِيْ - بِجَاهِ وَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ وَبِحَقِّي مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَيْكَ ـ امين - (الديلمي عن عمر وعلي معا) كنز ج ١)
Translation: When a devil or a sultan (ruler) troubles you, say, "O the One who suffices against every person. O the One who is for the one who has no one. O the support of the one who has no support. All hopes are severed except from You. Save me from the condition I am in, and help me in what I am upon from what has befallen me. For the sake of Your Noble Countenance and by the right of Muhammad ﷺ upon You." Ameen (May it be so). (Daylami narrated this from Hazrat Umar and Hazrat Ali both, and this is in the second volume of Kanz al-'Ummal)
رَوَى الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْمُعْجَمِ الْكَبِيرِ ـ إِنَّهُ كَانَ رَجُلٌ لَهُ حَاجَةٌ عِنْدَ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَكَانَ يَخْتَلِفُ إِلَيْهِ وَعُثْمَانُ لَا يَلْتَفِتُ إِلَيْهِ فَلَقِيَ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ حُنَيْفٍ فَشَكٰى إِلَيْهِ ذٰلِكَ
فَقَالَ تَوَضَّأْ ثُمَّ ائْتِ الْمَسْجِدَ فَصَلِّ فِيْهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قُلْ " اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْئَلُكَ وَاَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ بِنَبِيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَبِيِّ الرَّحْمَةِ يَا مُحَمَّدُ إِنِّيْ اَتَوَجَّهُ بِكَ إِلٰى رَبِّكَ لِيَقْضِيَ حَاجَتِيْ - اَللّٰهُمَّ فَشَفِّعْهُ فِيَّ " فَفَعَلَ ذَالِكَ الرَّجُلُ كَذَالِكَ ثُمَّ اَتٰى بَابَ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ - فَجَاءَهُ الْبَوَّابُ وَاَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ وَأَدْخَلَهُ عَلٰى عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ وَاَجْلَسَهُ عُثْمَانُ عَلٰى بِسَاطِهِ وَسَاَلَ مِنْهُ الْحَاجَةَ وَقَضٰى لَهُ بِحَاجَتِهِ وَقَالَ مَا كَانَتْ لَكَ مِنْ حَاجَةٍ فَاذْكُرْهَا فَسُرَّ ذَالِكَ الرَّجُلُ وَخَرَجَ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ لَقِيَ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ حُنَيْفٍ وَقَالَ جَزَاكَ اللّٰهُ خَيْرًا - لَعَلَّكَ قُلْتَ لِعُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ فِيْ حَاجَتِيْ - فَقَالَ وَاللّٰهِ مَا كَلَّمْتُهُ إِلَّا إِنِّيْ رَاَيْتُ رَسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ ضَرِيْرٌ وَ اسْتَمَدَّ بِهِ بِبَصَارَةِ بَصَرِهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُوْلُ اللّٰهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَ مَا قُلْتُ لَكَ فَعَلِمْتُ أَنَّ التَّوَسُّلَ بِهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُوْجِبُ قَضَاءَ الْحَاجَاتِ - وَفِيْ دَلَائِلِ الْخَيْرَاتِ : اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ اَسْئَلُكَ وَ اَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ بِحَبِيْبِكَ الْمُصْطَفٰی عِنْدَكَ يَا حَبِيْبَنَا يَا مُحَمَّدُ! إِنَّا نَتَوَسَّلُ بِكَ إِلٰى رَبِّكَ فَاشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ الْمَوْلَى الْعَظِيْمِ - يَا نِعْمَ الرَّسُوْلُ الطَّاهِرُ! اَللّٰهُمَّ شَفِّعْهُ فِيْنَا بِجَاهِهِ عِنْدَكَ - *(He said: Perform ablution, then go to the mosque, pray two rak'ahs in it, then say: "O Allah, I ask You and turn to You through Your Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the Prophet of Mercy. O Muhammad, I turn through you to your Lord so that my need may be fulfilled - O Allah, accept his intercession for me." The man did exactly that, then he came to the door of Uthman bin Affan (RA) - the doorkeeper came to him, took him by the hand, and brought him in to Uthman bin Affan (RA). Uthman (RA) seated him on his carpet, asked him about his need, fulfilled it for him, and said: "Whatever need you may have, mention it." The man became happy, and when he left his presence, he met Uthman bin Hunaif (RA) and said: "May Allah reward you with good - perhaps you spoke to Uthman bin Affan (RA) regarding my need." He replied: "By Allah, I did not speak to him, but I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a blind man came to him and sought his help for the restoration of his eyesight. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him exactly what I told you. So I knew that seeking a means (Tawassul) through him ﷺ necessitates the fulfillment of needs." And in Dala'il al-Khairat [it is mentioned]: "O Allah, I ask You and turn to You through Your chosen beloved who is with You. O our beloved, O Muhammad! We seek a means through you to your Lord, so intercede for us with the Great Master - O what a wonderful, pure Messenger! O Allah, accept his intercession for us through his honor with You.")*
Vocabulary: كَانَ يَخْتَلِفُ إِلَيْهِ: He used to visit him frequently. يَلْتَفِتُ: He pays attention, focuses. لَا يَلْتَفِتُ: He does not pay attention, does not heed. لَقِيَ: He met. شَكٰى: He complained. بِسَاطٌ: Carpet. سُرَّ: He became delighted, happy. لَعَلَّكَ: Perhaps you. لَعَلَّ: I wish/perhaps. اِسْتَمَدَّ: He sought help.
Translation: In the book *Al-Mu'jam Al-Kabir*, Tabarani has narrated that a person's matter was stalled with Hazrat Uthman (RA), and he used to frequently go to him. However, Hazrat Uthman (RA) did not pay attention to him. So, that person met Hazrat Uthman bin Hunaif (RA) (a Sahabi) and complained to him about this matter (Hazrat Uthman Ghani's (RA) inattention). Uthman bin Hunaif (RA) told him to perform ablution, go to the mosque, and pray two rak'ahs. Then say thus: "O Allah, I ask You and I turn to You through Your Prophet, Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ, the Prophet of Mercy, so that my need may be fulfilled. O Allah, accept his intercession (recommendation) in my favor." So, that person did exactly that. Then he reached the door of Hazrat Uthman (RA). The doorkeeper came, took him by the hand, and ushered him in to Uthman bin Affan (RA). Hazrat Uthman (RA) seated him on his own carpet and inquired about his need, fulfilling it. He also said, "If you have any other need, mention that as well." That person became very happy, and upon leaving him, he came to Uthman bin Hunaif (RA) and said, "May Allah grant you

a good reward. Perhaps you stated my need to Hazrat Uthman bin Affan (RA)." He said, "By Allah, I did not state your need. But I had seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a blind man came to him and sought his help to have his eyesight restored. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to that person just as I told you. From this I came to know that taking the means (Tawassul) of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is a cause for the fulfillment of needs. And in *Dala'il al-Khairat* it is [written]: اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ اَسْئَلُكَ وَ اَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ بِحَبِيْبِكَ الْمُصْطَفٰی عِنْدَكَ يَا حَبِيْبَنَا يَا مُحَمَّدُ! إِنَّا نَتَوَسَّلُ بِكَ إِلٰى رَبِّكَ فَاشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ الْمَوْلَى الْعَظِيْمِ - يَا نِعْمَ الرَّسُوْلُ الطَّاهِرُ! اَللّٰهُمَّ شَفِّعْهُ فِيْنَا بِجَاهِهِ عِنْدَكَ ۔ *(The translation of this supplication which is in Dala'il al-Khairat is:)* "O Allah, I ask You and turn to You through Your Beloved ﷺ who is chosen in Your presence. O our beloved! O Muhammad! We take you as a means. Intercede for us with your Lord, with the Great Master. O excellent, pure Messenger! O Allah, accept his intercession in our favor through his honor which is with You."
قَالَ الْفَاسِيُّ الْمَالِكِيُّ فِيْ شَرْحِهِ هٰذَا الدُّعَاءُ نَحْوَهُ اَخْرَجَهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ - *(Al-Fasi Al-Maliki said in his commentary: This supplication is similar to what Al-Tirmidhi extracted -)* Al-Fasi Al-Maliki said regarding its explanation that "this supplication is just like this." Tirmidhi has also narrated it.
وَقَالَ حَدِيْثٌ صَحِيْحٌ غَرِيْبٌ وَالنَّسَائِيُّ وَابْنُ مَاجَةَ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ فِيْ صَحِيْحِهِ وَالْحَاكِمُ وَقَالَ صَحِيْحٌ عَلٰى شَرْطِ الْبُخَارِيِّ وَمُسْلِمٍ وَصَحَّحَهُ أَيْضًا الْبَيْهَقِيُّ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُ - *(And he said: It is a sound (Sahih), rare (Gharib) Hadith. And Al-Nasa'i, Ibn Majah, Al-Tabarani, and Ibn Khuzaymah in his Sahih, and Al-Hakim - who said it is Sahih according to the conditions of Al-Bukhari and Muslim - and Al-Bayhaqi also authenticated it, from Uthman bin Hunaif (RA).)* And he declared this Hadith Hasan, Sahih, Gharib, and Imam Nasa'i, Imam Ibn Majah, Tabarani, and Ibn Khuzaymah have narrated it in their authentic books of Hadith. Hakim said that this Hadith is authentic (Sahih) upon the conditions of Bukhari and Muslim, and Bayhaqi has also declared its narration from Uthman bin Hunaif (RA) as authentic (Sahih).
عَنْ سَعِيْدِ بْنِ الْعَزِيْزِ قَالَ لَمَّا كَانَ أَيَّامُ الْحَرَّةِ لَمْ يُؤَذَّنْ فِيْ مَسْجِدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلٰثًا وَلَمْ يُقَمْ وَلَمْ يَبْرَحْ سَعِيْدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ الْمَسْجِدَ وَكَانَ لَايَعْرِفُ وَقْتَ الصَّلٰوةِ إِلَّا بِهَمْهَمَةٍ يَسْمَعُهَا مِنْ قَبْرِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - (رواہ الدارمی) *(From Sa'id bin Al-Aziz, he said: When it was the days of Al-Harrah, the adhan was not called in the mosque of the Prophet ﷺ for three days, nor was the iqamah given. Sa'id bin Al-Musayyab did not leave the mosque, and he would not know the time of prayer except by a humming sound (hamhamah) he heard from the grave of the Prophet ﷺ. - Narrated by Al-Darimi)*
Vocabulary: لَمَّا: When, at the time. أَيَّامُ الْحَرَّةِ: The days of the battle of Harrah. لَمْ يَبْرَحْ: Did not go out. لَا يَعْرِفُ: Does not recognize; was not known. هَمْهَمَةٍ: A low, humming sound; it is also used for the roar of a lion.

Translation: It is narrated from Hazrat Sa'id bin Abdulaziz (RH) that when the time of the Battle of Harrah came and the adhan was not called in the mosque for three days (there was no one except Sa'id bin Al-Musayyab (RA) who was in hiding) and the prayer was not established. Sa'id bin Al-Musayyab (RA) remained sitting in the mosque itself, and he would not even know the time of prayer except by hearing the soft sound (of reciting the prayer) from the blessed grave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ (upon which Hazrat Sa'id (RA) would perform his timely prayer). *(Al-Darimi narrated this Hadith)*
اَخْرَجَ ابْنُ السُنِّيِّ فِيْ عَمَلِ الْيَوْمِ وَاللَّيْلَةِ فِيْ "فِيْ بَابِ إِذَا خَدِرَتْ رِجْلُهُ " عَنْ أَبِيْ سَعِيْدٍ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُ - قَالَ كُنْتُ اَمْشِيْ مَعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُ فَخَدِرَتْ رِجْلُهُ فَجَلَسَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ اُذْكُرْ أَحَبَّ النَّاسِ إِلَيْكَ فَقَالَ " يَا مُحَمَّدَاهُ " فَقَامَ فَمَشٰى - *(Ibn Al-Sunni extracted in 'Amal Al-Yawm Wa'l-Laylah' in the 'Chapter on when one's foot becomes numb' from Abu Sa'id (RA) - he said: I was walking with Ibn Umar (RA) and his foot became numb so he sat down. A man said to him: "Remember the most beloved of people to you." He said: "O Muhammad (Ya Muhammadahu)!" Then he stood up and walked.)* Vocabulary: خَدِرَتْ: Filled with pins and needles (ants), became numb. خَدَرٌ: Became sluggish, tingled. كُنْتُ اَمْشِيْ: I was going/walking. رِجْلٌ: Foot. رَجُلٌ: Man. Its plural is رِجَالٌ. مَشٰى: Walked. Translation: Ibn as-Sunni (RH) in the book *"Amal al-Yawm wal-Laylah"*, meaning regarding the supplications to be recited day and night, in the chapter "When the feet are filled with pins and needles," has narrated from Hazrat Abu Sa'id (RA) that: I was walking with Hazrat Ibn Umar (RA) when his foot was filled with pins and needles, meaning his foot became senseless and numb, so he sat down. Then a person said to him, "Remember the one who is most beloved to you." Hazrat Ibn Umar (RA) said, "Ya Muhammadah!" Then he stood up and started walking.
وَاَخْرَجَ ابْنُ السُنِّيِّ أَيْضًا عَنِ الْهَيْثَمِ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ قَالَ كُنَّا عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْعَاصِ فَخَدِرَتْ رِجْلُهُ - فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ " أُذْكُرْ أَحَبَّ النَّاسِ إِلَيْكَ - فَقَالَ " يَا مُحَمَّدُ " فَقَامَ كَاَنَّمَا انْشِطَ مِنْ عِقَالٍ- *(And Ibn Al-Sunni also extracted from Al-Haytham bin Hubaish, he said: We were with Abdullah bin Amr - meaning Ibn Al-As - and his foot became numb. A man said to him: "Remember the most beloved of people to you." He said: "Ya Muhammad!" Then he stood up as if he was untied from a hobble.)* Vocabulary: اَنْشِطَ مِنْ عِقَالٍ: A tied rope was untied. Translation: Ibn as-Sunni (RH) narrates from Haytham bin Hubaish (RH): He said that we were with Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (RA), and his foot became numb. A person said to him, "Remember your beloved person." So, Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (RA) called out, "Ya Muhammad!" Then he stood up as if there was a rope on his foot and it became untied.
