Chapter 4

Bab Haqeeqat al-Islam

The Reality of Islam is Inseparable from Iman

Translation: Hazrat Anas (RA) narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever prays as we pray, and faces our Qibla, and eats what we slaughter, then he is a Muslim, who has the covenant of Allah and the covenant of His Messenger. So do not betray Allah regarding His covenant." (Meaning do not call him a Kafir, do not consider his prayer and fasting as useless. If there is no Iman in his heart and he hypocritically presents himself as a Muslim, then judge according to the apparent, deal with him just as you deal with Muslims. God knows the state of the heart, He will give the punishment and reward).

(Umirtu): I have been commanded. أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ (An Uqatilan-Nasa): that I fight people. حَتَّى (Hatta): until. يَشْهَدُوا (Yashhadu): they testify, they bear witness, they declare that which they are certain of. عَصَمُوا (Asamu): they protect, they save. فَإِذَا (Fa-idha): so when. فَعَلُوا ذَالِكَ (Fa'alu dhalika): they do that. دِمَاءٌ (Dima'): plural of blood (dam). أَمْوَالٌ (Amwal): plural of wealth (mal).

Translation: Abdullah bin Umar (RA) narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have been commanded to fight people until they testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and they establish the regular prayer, and they pay Zakat. So when they do that, they have protected their blood and their wealth from me, except for the right of Islam (meaning if someone has killed someone, he will be killed for the right of Islam. If he has taken someone's wealth, he will have to return the wealth), and their reckoning is with Allah." (Meaning if there is something else in his heart, God knows the state of the heart. We only know the apparent state, therefore we must fulfill the right of the apparent). (Bukhari and Muslim have narrated it).

بَابٌ : حَقِيقَةُ الْإِسْلَامِ لَا تَنْفَكُّ عَنِ الْإِيْمَانِ (This chapter explains that the reality of Islam is not separate from Iman)

(Ghayral Islam): other than Islam, leaving Islam. دِيْنًا (Deenan): any madhab, any other deen. فَـ (Fa): so. لَنْ يُّقْبَلَ (Lan yuqbala): will never be accepted, will never be approved. مِنْهُ (Minhu): from him. خٰسِرِيْنَ (Khasireen): those who suffer loss. مِنَ الْخٰسِرِيْنَ (Minal Khasireen): from those who suffer loss.

Translation: Allah Ta'ala says, "And whoever seeks a deen other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers." (Al Imran - Verse 85)

قَالَ تَبَارَكَ تَعَالَى : إِنَّ الدِّينَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ الْإِسْلَامُ - (آيت ١٩ - آل عمران) Vocabulary: إِنَّ (Inna): undoubtedly. الدِّينَ (Ad-Deen): madhab, deen. عِنْدَ (Inda): near, with. عِنْدَ اللَّهِ (Indallahi): with Allah. الْإِسْلَامُ (Al-Islam): is Islam.

Translation: Allah Tabaraka wa Ta'ala says, "The (true) deen with Allah is indeed Islam."

قَالَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ : فَاَخْرَجْنَا مَنْ كَانَ فِيْهَا مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيْهَا غَيْرَ بَيْتٍ مِّنَ الْمُسْلِمِيْنَ - (الذاريات - پ ٢٧) Vocabulary: خَرَجَ (Kharaja): went out. يَخْرُجُ (Yakhruju): goes out. خُرُوجًا (Khuroojan): to go out (intransitive verb). اَخْرَجَ (Akhraja): took out (transitive verb). مَنْ (Man): whoever, who. كَانَ (Kana): was. فِيْهَا (Feeha): in it. الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ (Al-Mumineen): people of Iman, believers. وَجَدَ (Wajada): found. فَمَا وَجَدْنَا (Fama wajadna): so We did not find.

Translation: Allah 'Azza wa Jall says, "So We brought out the believers who were in it. And We did not find in it any but one house of Muslims."

Friends! Reflect upon these Quranic verses and divine instructions, and evaluate the Islam of present-day Muslims. You will find that an international sect of Muslims has emerged today which considers Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, and Parsis all to be on true religions. But in reality, they do not consider anyone to be true. They say, "Whatever injunctions came subsequently, follow the latest commands" as it is necessary to consider the latest ruling as true. According to them, beliefs do not hold much necessity. They say, eat wherever you want, do not cause pain to anyone, do not lie, do not steal, and do not commit adultery.
