Chapter 34

Bab Thawab Muhabbatihi

The Reward of Loving the Prophet ﷺ

O Muslims! Take one step forward in the path of Allah and see with what intensity and speed the mercy of Allah advances to take you in its embrace.

Rahmat-e Haq "baha" ne-me juyad / Rahmat-e Haq "bahana" mi-juyad (The mercy of Allah does not want a price or compensation. The mercy of Allah seeks an "excuse" (to bestow and forgive).)

This chapter is regarding the reward of loving the Prophet of God ﷺ*

عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ مَتَى السَّاعَةُ يَا رَسُولَ اللّٰهِ قَالَ مَا أَعْدَدْتَ لَهَا قَالَ مَا أَعْدَدْتُ مِنْ كَثِيرِ صَلَاةٍ وَلَا صَوْمٍ وَلَا صَدَقَةٍ وَلٰكِنِّي أُحِبُّ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُولَهُ قَالَ أَنْتَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ - (البخاري في الادب المفرد و اخرجه مسلم في الادب ، شرح الشفا) *Translation:- It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (RA) that a person came to the Prophet ﷺ and submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! When will the Day of Judgment be?" He ﷺ asked, "What preparation have you made for it?" He submitted, "I have not prepared with an abundance of prayers, fasts, and charity. But I love Allah and His Messenger." You ﷺ said, "You will be with the one whom you love."* (This hadith was recorded by Imam Bukhari in his book Al-Adab Al-Mufrad and by Imam Muslim in it under the chapter of Adab, it is also in "Sharh Ash-Shifa")

*Ataitu-hu*: I came to him. *Fa-nawalani*: So he gave me. *Al-Mar'u*: A person, a man. *Translation:- Hazrat Safwan bin Qudama (RA) narrates, saying, "I migrated towards the Holy Prophet ﷺ and presented myself in his service. So I submitted, 'O Messenger of Allah! Give me your hand so that I may pledge allegiance at your hand.' So he extended his hand. Then I submitted, 'O Messenger of Allah, I love you.' You ﷺ said, 'A person is with the one whom he loves.'"*

"I love you very much." The Holy Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever loves someone will be with them."

Hath mein unke hath ab dar kahe ka / Allah Nabi hain sath ab dar kahe ka Dono jag mein sath ab dar kahe ka (When my hand is in his hand, what is there to fear? / Allah and the Prophet are with me, what is there to fear? / When we are together in both worlds, what is there to fear?)

Vocabulary:- *La-anta*: Indeed you. *Ahabbu ilayya*: Are more beloved to me. *Aji'a*: I come. *Fa-araftu*: So I realized, I knew. *Rufi'ta*: You will be elevated. *La araka*: I will not see you. *An'ama*: Bestowed favor. *Ula'ika*: Those people. *Hasuna ula'ika rafiqa*: And those are excellent companions. *Translation:- Sayyidah Aisha and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrate that a person presented himself in the service of the Holy Prophet ﷺ and then submitted, "O Prophet of Allah! You are more beloved to me than my family and wealth, and when I remember you, I cannot bear it until I come and see you. And I remembered my death and your death, so I realized that when you enter Paradise, you will be elevated to high ranks with the Prophets. And if I enter Paradise, how will I see you?" So Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger - those will be with the ones upon whom God has bestowed favor - (who are they?) they are the prophets, the truthful ones (Siddiqeen), the martyrs, and the righteous (doers of good deeds). And excellent are those as companions."* (Tabarani and Ibn Marduyah narrated this. It is in the first volume of Sharh Shifa. At the end of the hadith is the Quranic verse from Surah An-Nisa, verse 69).

O friends! Reflect on the condition of the lovers of the Messenger of God ﷺ, that they had no peace without seeing him. Alhamdulillah, in our breasts too, the spark of his love remains kindled. We too have no peace without his thought.
